I led the production of Bud Light’s 2023 Super Bowl campaign, featuring Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh dancing to an increasingly catchy piece of hold music. A second film, Magnet, ran during the NFL playoffs leading up to the game.
This campaign was the pinnacle of a totally new direction for the Bud Light brand in terms of look, feel, and genre. They came to us asking to rethink what drinking a Bud Light means and what it should be associated with. To us, this was best represented with a very simple execution of Miles Teller and his wife finding enjoyment in the mundane.
We leaned into a very cinematic presentation, led by acclaimed filmmaker Trey Edward Shults (Waves, It Comes at Night, Krisha). Trey’s approach helped elevate the concept to feel premium and smooth, which was a very core part of the brief.
While this production had many moving pieces, the biggest challenges included licensing and re-arranging a real piece of hold music, then building choreography around that composition with A-list celebrities. It was also not an easy feat to find an actress that could successfully carry five pints of beer with two hands.
